Students' Critical Thinking on Argumentative Essay Writing through Cooperative Learning

چکیده

Carried on in non-English major freshman students setting, this study aims to examine how critical thinking skills can be developed through cooperative learning their argumentative essay writing. An experimental group (n=20) and a control were randomly set up, the pre-tested post-tested see if there is significant difference assigned Illinois Critical Thinking Essay Scoring Rubric. The implementation of rubrics was carried out by 1) supporting cooperation, 2) offering objective 3) fostering develop ideas Paired Sample T-test used calculate between pre-and post-test results. Results confirmed that t-test, mean score (-5000) statistically higher than group’s (-3900). It indicates strategy effectively develops promotes students’ Through five key elements Sadeghi (2012), more open-minded, tolerant, objective, honest concise, respecting others, interpreting situations differently. research offered different perspective developing use focusing longer periods larger number participants also implied integration scoring rubric skill performance for future research.
